Red-tailed Hawk and Common Grackle
Red-tailed Hawk (Buteo jamaicensis) being attacked by a Common Grackle (Quiscalus quiscula).
Habitat
Blackland Prairie vegetation area. Variable habitats with an oxbow, athletic fields, oak/juniper woods, pecan woods, and tame pasture at ca. 177 m (581 ft) elevation.
Location
Lions Park, Temple, Bell County, Texas, USA.

splendid capture of this aerial fight, Stanley, perfectly timed, well done, many tfs!!
 
These grackles are, like our corvids here, very nasty towards raptors.
One day, I watched a fearless crow trying to expel an old goshawk from a fir tree. It flew several mock attacks. The goshawk became more and more angry. It was time for him to turn the tables. It suddenly took off and headed extremely fast and pointed towards the crow. Then, I saw the quickest escape of a crow ever. A change from a fearless to a fearful bird in a few seconds. Excellent behaviour shot.
