Very busy at the bird feeder today! (43 Viewers)

fantastic ! a pair of GreenFinch on the feeders today. the first Greenfinch in the garden for 2x years since we found the last one dead .
Just shows you need to be watching all the time as they were only there for a minute and then flew off to the birch wood.

Hopefully some GreenFinch young this year :t:

Heres the Male apologies for poor image but lots of glare and reflections on our conservatory glass today.

Garden wise, Blackbirds have been chasing off the Jays, I am convinced they have a nest in the Coniffer Tree. Wren has become a regular visitor.

best you get that camera out Dan !;) Green Woodpeckers too !

I love trying to get pictures of Wrens. They are difficult to see but I've got used to their shrill, urgent ,blackbird-like alarm call now and rush out with my camera ready.

If I hear the Jays I rush out and try shoo them off whatever nest they are attacking. god knows what the neighbours think I'm doing

Not too much activity around the garden today but after 1 year I finally got a fairly good photograph of a Jay in the garden, highlights for today were as follows -

Jay, Blackcap, Yellowhammer, Pheasant & a stray Canada goose flew over very low

All photographs taken through double glazed window not quite clean

1 - Chaffinch
2 - Blackcap male
3 & 4 Jay

Just had a pair of these on the back fence I guess they are escapees but still they were feeding from my feeders

I did try and see if they were tame the one came pretty close until the other called from the flat roof at the side of my house and a few seconds later they moved off and I couldn';t see them anymore but what a sight in ther garden

I had my first ever sighting of a lesser redpoll in the garden today, feeding on the nyjer along with a pair of siskins and several goldfinches.

Also today I had blackbird, house sparrow, dunnock, robin, starling, chaffinch, blue tit, great tit, collared dove, wood pigeon, rook and jackdaw.

great stuff, have you ID them yet? Look like some sort of Waxbill.

Welcome aboard :t: , and well done with the quality garden bird ... Lssr Redpoll :t:

Had a goose round, this morning, with five puffy, peepy goslings. Everybody from my building came out to look at them. I was happy to see that people, even kids, were keeping a respectful distance from the birds, despite their obvious curiosity. (I did get some better pictures, but they were in colour, and over the file size limit for uploads. They're on my bird blog, though.)

I hope to see more of the goslings, but they should probably stay out of the yard. A tetchy old man lives here, and I often see him harassing and chasing birds that enter the garden. I think he doesn't like them digging up the lawn. But he is fighting a losing battle; there are ALWAYS starlings, robins, geese, flickers, and crows down there. He should give it up, already.

The pair of siskins I had visiting has now expanded to 4 males and 3 females, word must be out that I have a new feeder full of sunflower hearts.

Also had a pair of greenfinches today, first time I've seem them for a while.

A pair of Robins have turned up today, I had been thinking where were they hiding.

Blackbirds, Chaffinches and Greenies and all the tits in plenty of numbers. Sparrows and Dunnocks are hovering up leftovers with the Doves and Pidgeons.

Before work this morning there were 2 male Blackcaps taking seed from the neighbours' feeders.

In my garden, 2 Siskin, 2 Goldfinch and a Sprawk.

My handful of siskins has turned into a flock, nyjer and sunflower hearts diminishing faster than ever.

Also had 3 lesser redpolls at the same time and a garden warbler today.

At least two pairs of noisy Goldfinches nesting in our conifers. I love this time of year when it's warmer and the birds are paired up and singing happily |:d|.
I've been watching the Willow Tits today, they've put some effort in, they must have collected their own weight in seeds and suet:

8 Siskins flocking to the neighbours' feeders. They've put up 3 sunflower heart feeders with no squirrel protection. The birds love it, but it will get costly.

EDIT: Male Blackcap at my own feeders, just before dusk.
