Project sees highest number of fledged Hen Harriers

Presumably all 21 estates had suitable habitat. Was there any indication on why 14 of them saw no successful nesting harriers?

Death Toll from Ross-shire poisoning rises to 16!

    Buzzard with a wire

I still say it is in totally the wrong position for a transmitter. If tailmounted, it would be affixed to a centre deck feather. If attached via a "trackpack" fitnent like June shows it also wouldnt sit in such a position.

    Buzzard with a wire

Looks a bit like a tail feather still in the sheath that wasnt preened out for some reason

does any BOP take adult mink? that you know of?

I'm sorry scuba, but in my opinion (as a falconer who has flown all three species you mention) your assertions are very wide of the mark.

does any BOP take adult mink? that you know of?

Scuba There is not that much difference in the power in a female gos and a female redtail's foot. You also have to bear in mind that with most prey items, especially larger prey, it isn't the power to crush that kills the prey, it is the talon going in and doing the damage. Many prey items...

    Urban peregrines

No, I wouldnt suggest you are. I'm sure it was just misguided mud-slinging.

    Urban peregrines

...and of course all falconers are out to steal peregrines from their nests 3:-) Do you really believe that a falconer or anyone with a modicom of knowledge of wild raptors would need a reference on an internet forum to find a nest to rob, if that is what they wanted to do? rgds F5 (Falconer...

    Buzzard Control - Nest destruction

so on a purely pro-rata statistical basis that is 1.96m pheasants per annum then. I actually thought their response was quite reasoned, they cited specific "problem" birds, that all other scaring measures had been undertaken and that the licence was issued in compliance with the law.

3 degrees C to cold for Goshawk display?

Dont know about the experts, but..... temperature has no impact on their breeding cycle so if it is sunny then there is every chance if they are present

    Goshawks

Hi FB Thanks for expanding, genuinely appreciated , and I agree with much that you state. The only portion I would "take issue" with is the emphasis on the "highly valued" part of your post, as I did in your previous post. Birders on here and the general public would assume that to mean that...

    Goshawks

The post of mine that you wished to see "proof" of relate to all raptor species. "Highly valued by austringers and falconers"? is that a straight lift from RSPB paraphenalia? What strange logic. The fact that austringers and falconers enjoy flying such species does not make them highly...

    Goshawks

i'll ignore the clear emphasis in your post and highlight a couple of examples for you....... Lack of food - I filmed a buzzard nest last season. The local nests are only seeing two eggs/young. The parents were only bringing in baby rabbits, and not many of them, and one mole! One of the...
