• Eastern and central China (Liaoning to Sichuan and Zhejiang)

• South-western China (Sichuan to Fujian) to northern Burma, northern Indochina; Taiwan

• Y. c. swinhoei:

• Hainan Island (southern China)

• Y. c. semicoronatus:

• Extreme eastern Nepal to western Assam

• Y. c. mitchellii:

• Western Nepal to north-western India and northern Pakistan

• Y. c. canicapillus:

• Eastern Assam, Bangladesh to central and southern Burma, Thailand and Laos

• Y. c. delacouri:

• South-eastern Thailand, Cambodia and Cochinchina

• Y. c. auritus:

• Southern Thailand and Malay Peninsula

• Y. c. volzi:

• Sumatra, Riau Archipelago and Nias Island

• Y. c. aurantiiventris:

• Borneo

Habitat

Dry dipterocarp forest, mangroves, riparian woodland, lightly wooded areas and groves. Parks and gardens.

Behaviour

Diet

Their diet consists of caterpillars, small beetles, grubs and ants. They also eat fruit and grass seeds.

Vocalisation

Call: Tiirr..Tiirr , continously and repetitively..
