Overview
Southeast of Edmonton, Alberta. The aspen-balsam poplar woodland of this area represents the northern portion of the aspen parkland belt.
Birds
Notable Species
Songbirds abound, especially species characteristic of older woodland such as Western Wood Pewee, Ovenbird, Yellow Warbler, Baltimore Oriole and Rose-breasted Grosbeak.
Aspen-fringed ponds attract ducks and grebes. Freshwater marsh areas are inhabited by Sora, and occasionally visited by Green-winged Teal, American Coot and Ruddy Duck.
California Gull and Ring-billed Gull nest in large numbers on Gull Island.
