A shame there was no explination given, but I suspect they operate on the idea that the general public won't notice the missing image and if they do an attendant can explain. A notice about the removal might give a bad impression of the competition to all the viewers and degrade the show.
Plus anyone with the knowhow about the whole event won't need to be told why its not there.
