Coney Meadow and Adjoining Areas (8 Viewers)

13 Glow Worms seen this evening - 1 Hopyard Wood, 3 around the allotments, 7 along the Roman Way and 2 along the Railway track.

A Common Tern flew over Coney Meadow this evening. Around 80 Swallows roosted and 1 or 2 Sand Martins.
1 Noctule Bat
Tawny Owl heard.

Lesser Whitethroat seen at Coney this morning.
Hobby over Tapenhall
Cetti's Warbler near Mildenham
A few Swifs seen in several areas
A couple of Starling flocks
Willow Warbler at Tapenhall

Yellowhammer near Salwarpe yesterday
 
OSPREY perched in dead tree in Coney Meadow eating fish then moved down the valley slightly when harrassed by Magpies. Still in the area but out of view at present.
 
No further sign of Osprey. Last seen heading up the valley - may have veered towards Westwood.

What an amazing morning!

Also seen - 1 bright juv Willow Warbler and 2 Sparrowhawks plus lots of Buzzards.
 
this was going to be a average highlights report over the last few evenings reporting 2 Swift, Heron,Buzzard and 31 canada geese. until this evening couldn't believe my new Bins a pair of Red Kite over Coney.

A beautiful male Redstart in bushes on the sloping pastures of High Park this morning.

A Red Kite drifted over so low I could almost touch it.

1 These flying towards WW, Bang goes the neighbourhood .
2 Starling's starting to gather.
3 starting to become common.

A Little Egret flew down the valley over Harford Hill this morning.
A Distant Hobby near Knights Grove
Juvenile Yellowhammers near Chatley plus adults along Sinton Lane
A flock of Swifts over Chatley (10+) with hirundines
Ravens over in several places
Buzzards, Kestrel and Sparrowhawk
A large Grass Snake in Coney Meadow - photo below:

The Red Kite spent quite a lot of time perched on a low post in the set-aside strip in one of the fields.

Also this morning:

An elusive female Redstart in a hedge between Salwarpe and High Park.
2 Lesser Whitethroats and Common Whitethroats in the same hedge.
1 Little Egret perched in tree near Coney Meadow then flew down the valley.
Mistle Thrush (very scarce lately).
Linnets
Yellowhammer heard
