As per day is the key:

Friedrich Bohndorff (1848-?1895) German naturalist, explorer, collector in tropical Africa 1876-1884 (subsp. Anthus leucophrys, subsp. Cyanomitra verticalis, Phyllanthus, syn. Ploceus cucullatus, syn. Strix woodfordi nuchalis).

In here is written p. 340:

Friedrich Bohndorff, am 16. August 1849 zu Plau in Mecklenburg geboren,...

OK here the birth is 1848 and here again 1849.

in Amtsblatt des Reichskolonialamt 1890 p. 195 I found here:

Deckoffizier Friedrich Bohndorff, geb. am 15. August 1855 zu Plau (Mecklenburg-Schwerin); Station Bagamoyo.

So most likely i think he was born 1849. If he is mentioned in the year 1890 he may was still alive at that time.

If we can trust Wikipedia
Friedrich Bohndorff (15. August 1848 in Plau - 26. March 1921 in Locarno)

The death is according a hand written entry in his baptism church book record in Plau.

The Eponym Dictionary of Birds claims:
African Wood Owl ssp. Strix woodfordii bohndorffi Sharpe, 1884 NCR [JS Strix woodfordii nuchalis]
Capuchin Babbler ssp. Phyllanthus atripennis bohndorffi Sharpe, 1884
Spotted-backed Weaver ssp. Ploceus cucullatus bohndorffi Reichenow, 1887
Green-headed Sunbird ssp. Cyanomitra verticalis bohndorffi Reichenow, 1887
Plain-backed Pipit ssp. Anthus leucophrys bohndorffi Neumann, 1906
Friedrich Bohndorff (b.1848) was a German naturalist, explorer and collector intropical Africa (1876–1884). He originally trained to be a goldsmith, but went to Cairo (1871) to learn Arabic and then went exploring. He went on a German expedition to Central and East Africa (1880–1882), after which he returned to, and settled in Berlin.

The Key to Scientific Names
Friedrich Bohndorff (?1848-?1895) German interpreter, district administrator in the Sudan, naturalist, collector, explorer in the Sudan and Congo 1876-1884 (subsp. Anthus leucophrys, subsp. Cyanomitra verticalis, Phyllanthus, syn. Ploceus cucullatus, syn. Poicephalus flavifrons, syn. Strix woodfordi nuchalis).

  • Anthus leucophrys bohndorffi Neumann, 1906 OD here
  • Ploceus cucullatus bohndorffi Reichenow, 1887 OD here
  • Cyanomitra verticalis bohndorffi Reichenow, 1887 OD here
  • Phyllanthus atripennis bohndorffi Sharpe, 1884 OD here
  • Strix woodfordii bohndorffi Sharpe, 1884 OD here

Pionias bohndorffi Sharpe 1884 here (syn. Poicephalus flavifrons) mentioned here by Reichenow or here by Erlanger is a valid name in terms of the code.

Take it for what it is worth.
