Hello Everyone - Sigma EX 80-400mm advice (1 Viewer)

Hi Everyone,

I am new to this forum.
I am willing to buy Sigma EX 80-400mm F/4.5-5.6 APO OS AF lens for my Canon 450D body.

Is there anyone who are using this lens and could you please let me know whether this lens is good enough for Bird Photography and Sports photography.

Appreciate your valuables ideas on this.

Br,
Sampath

Hi Sampath and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators.

I've moved your post to the Sigma forum as I think you'll get the best help there. I also subscribed you to this thread so you don't lose track of it.

Same as what I've read. Its an affordable lens though. Make sure that you shoot it at f/8 at all focal lengths and turn the image stabilization (called "OS") off when it is mounted on a tripod. Should be rather portable, reasonably compact and makes for decent hand-holding. For birds in flight, maybe only the slower ones can be tracked with this lens.

This lens in comparison to the 150-500mm is a bit slower in response
and also image quality the images appear softer

I would suggest to you if you can purchase a new 150-500mm or same a little
and get a used one from reputable camera store like Bhphoto, adorama etc..
