Smile Question about the Crow family in the UK

Hello there

This is a question that has perplexed me over the years. OH and I had a debate about it today while we visited Dale in Wales!

I know that there are members of the Crow family with distinctive names ie Hooded Crow, Cough, Rook etc... including the Raven.

There is also the very large Carrion Crow......but then there is the smaller Crow - is it called a Crow or a Common Crow?.

Please give me your thoughts everyone

My understanding for UK birds is Common and Carrion are the same species. Hooded and Carrion are very very similar. Smaller members of this family are the Jackdaw, Jay and Magpie.
