Hi,
I'm thinking about buying a pair of Leica Trinovid HDs, specifically in the 10x32 format, to complement my Nikon 7x42s - to use at the coast etc in decent light (I accept that the 8x32s would probably be an overall better option, but I like the idea of having some light 10s as an alternative in certain situation - my other half can use them too, so I can always borrow them if my 7s aren't enough if we're both out).
I was also attracted by the close-focus of these bins, as there'd be the added advantage for insect-watching. I could then sell my Pentax Papillio's to offset the cost.
I've never looked through the Leicas, however, and may not get the chance before I'd like to take advantage of some of the 10% off sales currently happening in Jan. I wonder what people's subjective opinions are as to how these compare to say, the Zeiss Conquest HD, which I have looked through in the past and been impressed by. I did consider the similar weight Nikon Monarch HG 10x42, though these are now a couple of hundred pounds dearer than when I looked through them a while back (and their 32s are dearer still, I believe).
Any thoughts would be appreciated! Of course, I realise that there's no substitute for trying out myself etc, buying from somewhere with a good returns policy if I can't buy in store etc. But any opinions in advance will be a help.
Cheers!
