Hi All
Will be over in Ireland, beginning of May for five days. Staying near Kilkenny, little village called 'Callan'.
Could anyone recommend places to go for birding in and around where I will be staying, hopefully not more than an hours drive away!!
many thanks
Terry

Not much there I am afraid Terry.
I would recommend you get your hands on this book.

For any birding that may be available.
Otherwise head for Wexford or Waterford areas. Should be just over an hours drive from you.

Hi Owen.
Shame!!
Been to Waterford quite a few times when I was young......where would you head for in Waterford??
Also, what about your area.....(we always fly into Cork), I know the coastline quite well, but they were the days before birding!! Will look into getting the book.
Thanks

Hi Terry,

Plenty of good birding spots in Cork if you are in the area.
Cork Harbour, Ballycotton etc.
Keep an eye on the Corkbirdnews twitter feed for news on birds turning up.

You can find information on birding sites in Waterford here.

Wexford in spring is usually pretty eventful with tern colonies at ladies island providing a spectacle and migrants on various headlands such as Carnsore and Hook Head.

Tacumshin of course would be a must see location.
