  1. Słowiński NP

    Słowiński NP

Inland view from the top of a dune. Taken before I was into birding; I have quite a few photos of plants, though, the highlight being probably the bog-myrtle, which is rare and protected in Poland (not hard to spot as there was an information plate next to it).
  2. How to... (SF)

    How to... (SF)

.... make a mess of a new species for the garden!! Take it sideways through the double-glazing! After my neighbours lowered the hedge by a few feet I noticed that they'd got feeders hanging from their tree. Last year was the first time I'd seen/heard any Greenfinches at all in the area, just...
  3. Returned to the fold

    Returned to the fold

So... the female House Sparrow decided that my food may be better after all LOL. TTTW A quick post and run today, for I'm off out shortly to have a cataract dealt with. Not sure when I'll be able to see well enough to be able to look at the laptop, maybe tonight, maybe next week.
  4. Loyal

    Loyal

Well.... he's at least more loyal than his missis and kept himself to my side of the hedge! He's right down the bottom of the beech hedge. The greenery is actually their lawn behind it. TTTW
  5. Traitor

    Traitor

With the lowering of the neighbour's beech hedge, I can now see their feeders hanging in their tree.... and here was one of MY House Sparrows feeding there! TTTW
  6. Drop out SF

    Drop out SF

Just as I clicked one of the tits decided he'd had enough obviously!
  7. Barrier

    Barrier

I'd not seen a Long-tailed Tit landing on the old road safety barrier before, and it was rather nice to get one, on its own, out in the open for a change.
  8. Heads and Tails

    Heads and Tails

Twenty minutes later and the light round the feeders was completely different. The Long-tailed Tits returned - who can resist taking pictures of them?
  9. A wee splash of red

    A wee splash of red

There are quite a few Robins near the feeders (rarely on them) and they mostly feed on the ground under the broom and on the path. Got this one, against the light, in one of the trees on the opposite side of the road from the feeders, so I was quite pleased at this result. The most I've seen...
  10. A really popular feeder!

    A really popular feeder!

They don't always appear when I go, but a real treat when they do come. Think I caught 5 on the fat balls at that time, but there was so much coming and going I may have missed some!! Delightful, aren't they. And a rather nice Christmas treat too.
  11. Bad timing

    Bad timing

Had him all set up, nicely framed... but just as I clicked up he went!!! I've gone back to some earlier folders for my Saturday Fun entry, I rushed through them to try and get up to date with my images.
  12. Now for the singer

    Now for the singer

A few days after the Mistle Thrush appeared, a Song Thrush came in. These are pretty rare visitors to my garden area too, mostly in the autumn, though I sometimes hear them in the distance. TTTW
  13. Blending in

    Blending in

The autumnal colours are reflected in the birds as well I think. It really was a lovely sight seeing these two sitting so close together with the autumn leaves and fruits. BTW the Gallery Search is not working properly at the moment and is only picking up items in the Tags field (the luggage...
  14. No cover

    No cover

My neighbour got someone in to cut the beech hedge right back.... it looks bald!! No doubt it will grow back, but meantime this lady looks rather confused as to where to get some shelter. TTTW
  15. Plotters

    Plotters

I'm sure these two were planning some mischief between them. Wonder what though? LOL
  16. Red in the blue (European Robin)

Red in the blue (European Robin)

I heard a Robin singing and eventually found him at the top of a tree outside my window. He stopped singing when I was photographing him though, guess he was just having a good look around.
  17. I'm not a duck

    I'm not a duck

The morning started wet.... and got wetter. This pigeon wished he was a duck I think as he looks most disgruntled. TTTW
  18. Everybody's sweetheart

    Everybody's sweetheart

... aren't they? August found us back at the new feeding station and the feeders were back up! Unfortunately these don't visit my garden (yet); it'd taken a few visits before they showed themselves to me though.
  19. This is my favourite move

    This is my favourite move

A Wood Pigeon looking on while the Black-headed Gull demonstrates his best ballet position. Couldn't resist this one for my Saturday Fun entry. That roof is quite steep and gulls, particularly, always struggle to climb it. TTTW
  20. The wee one

    The wee one

Then an old friend appeared much further up the lochan. The lovely Little Grebe (or Dabchick). Too far away to get a really decent image, so I didn't attempt to crop too much, as I thought the setting was attractive anyway. The vegetation was looking really lush!
  21. Back on the Patch

    Back on the Patch

A couple of days later we checked for the feeders, but still none. So we drove on up the Glen heading towards Glenshee, but turned off onto the Tullymurdoch road across the moor where we'd explored the previous day out. The weather wasn't as good and we really didn't see much, apart from a...
  22. Not on a stone....

    Not on a stone....

..... and not chatting! There was a small plantation of pine trees beside where we were standing and we could hear various things in there, so trying to watch might emerge. Somehow peripheral vision attracted my attention behind me and beyond the fence on a fallen tree some yards in I saw a...
  23. Flying High

    Flying High

We went to the new feeding station, but now all the feeders had been taken down, so we scattered some seed on the ground, but little turned up. A discussion then followed and we decided to head for the hills. We set off past my old Up the Hill patch and turned onto the moor beyond. It's a...
  24. Wrap around

    Wrap around

I'm sure he'd have tried to carry that nut feeder away, he seems to have really taken ownership of it, doesn't he.
  25. First in

    First in

This Wood Pigeon was the first to come for breakfast, so had the full choice! Seems he's gone for the insect nibbles first. TTTW
