    Spent ages photographing this bird in the rushes and then it took off taking me slightly by surprise. This was the only decent image I managed to get of it in flight

    .... well for me anyway! Bitterns are the masters of camouflage and, at Kinnordy, they're always pretty distant so you need very long lenses to get decent pictures. Way out of my price range. I'd spent ages searching the reed bed.... gave up, then he was spotted by the young couple sitting...
