    Bittern at Minsmere on Wednesday this week. A memorable day with 7 Bittern sightings, 6 different birds. In 2 visits in June we have sighted 12 of these birds. Quite extraordinary

    An adult red-shouldered hawk had captured a least bittern, and a juvenile red-shouldered was chasing after it to try to steal the meal

    This usually well camouflaged and hiding bittern was out in the open about 10 feet from me, busy watching the water for a fish and not minding me at all

This one strolled out into the sun to snag a fish, right on the bank of a reed island 35 feet from me. This one...
