Common Chiffchaff (center left) and Blue Tit (lower right) as compared to a Hogweed plant - probably the coastal Common Hogweed, although we do also have an even larger one here called "Tromsøpalme" [Tromsø Palm], but that one's an invasive species that the city gardeners based at Leangen Farm...

    Blooking Windows!

Not only does this one need cleaning, but Windows did an update last night and I've been trying to do something with this computer since 9am, lost count of the times I've re-booted it!! It does seem just a little more stable at the moment. Anyway how do you like my over-long Blue Tit for SF? TTTW

  7. My sister's favorite

    My sister's favorite

My sister thinks this shot may be my best so far, and as she has an art degree I'll take her word for it. Not as a bird shot, mind you. We have a specific esthetic regarding plumage detail, pose, how much of the frame is bird only... But as a design in other contexts. She suggested as a...

    Checking things out

Blue Tits are always a delight, aren't they.... especially when one sits still for a moment. Think he was either waiting his turn at a feeder or just checking to make sure it was safe to go in.

Where have the blue tits gone?

During the spring I noticed that a couple of blue tits kept making trips back and forth from the back garden to my downstairs neighbour's window. I believe they were nesting in / around the bathroom window vent (from outside it looked like there was a crack in the vent). The blue tits seemed...

    In the baby pool

First shot from a walk to the Ila Creek falls. A hefty crop from a rather distant shot of this juvenile Blue Tit taking a bath in a shallow pool below the falls. This was a day I got some good close-ups of Grey Wagtail and White-throated Dipper. I'll be sharing some of those over the next couple...

Don't eat it all at once!

A pretty Blue Tit at the Craighall feeders. BTW I've around 5-6 fledged ones on my window feeders at home. They're not nearly so quarrelsome as the Starlings LOL

Well, that doesn't happen often for me LOL Get three different tit species in one image! Shame I couldn't see the Great Tit's face, wasn't it

Think it might be time to go

Just checking LOL! The last bird up on that visit was a delightful, but scruffy looking, Blue Tit on the peanuts.

    A triumvirate of tits

The in-coming Blue Tit was actually perched on the tree behind the Coal Tit waiting a chance to get onto the coconut. Gave up, flew round the back of the the tree onto the feeder that way. Thought that was quite clever LOL

Rather liked this pose... looks as if he's checking that no-one else can see these fatballs (some home LOL).
