Hi everyone! First post from me & my feathered friends

Hi all. Newbie here. I've recently moved to North Wales, having never had a garden before (at least, as an adult home owner & out in the country). I've built what I'm amused to call my "feeder array" from a mixture of scraps, with bought & scavenged feeders. I have fat balls, mealworm...

Hello from Naarden - wondering about blue tits (pimpelmees)

Our home is on the outskirts of Naaden, in the Netherlands. We try to keep our large garden a good habitat for animals- lots of bushes and trees, piles of branches, plants with seeds and berries, holes in the fence to allow migration, no use of pesticides and lots of bird houses. And bird...

Hello! I have a camera in a blue tit nest and sending live on youtube (search on Swedish Birdhouse on youtube). In the begining it was both a female and a male in the nest. But in the last week i saw only the female. Now the chicks are some days old and the female is feeding them alone. Can I...

It was so pleasing to have Long-tailed Tits, visiting our new Mause feeders. However, this Blue Tit thinks "they're not going to stop me getting fed, however many of them there are!!" Saturday Fun

About time you hang up some more treats, lady!

Blue Tit giving me an impatient look - too adorable to take seriously. But I did make another round of "fat muffins" a week or so later when the first round was truly finished off.

    Blue Tit eating Xmas treats

We hang up three types of Christmas treats for the birds, in addition to the usual three feeders of seeds and one of peanuts. First there are the traditional sheaves of oats, the two types of home-made fat treats, both made by filling something with mixed wild birdseed, pouring in melted coconut...

    Christmas birds - Blue Tit

I've finally reached the end of my 2023 posts. Here are three who visited my feeders (including extra sheaves of oats and home-made fatballs and stuffed coconuts) on Christmas Eve. There were a few other species visiting as well through the winter - the occasional Willow Tit, some Bullfinches...

    Blue Tit, Cyanistes Caeruleus

A common bird, easy to ignore, but none the less rather lovely. I confess to putting out a little seed in the woods. Blue tit's immediately take their prize onto a branch where they set about consuming it, bit by bit.

Bird Drawings in Pencil - Celebrating Britain's Feathered Friends

Hello! I have recently started work on some original bird pencil drawings. My aim is to educate myself about each species and produce a lifetime collection that celebrates the beauty of our feathered friends that co-inhabit Britain. Whilst I have been showing these off on social media...

Blue tit nestling out of box, parents not seen for 5 hours.

Hi, I have a couple bird boxes around my house and one has had some blue tits nesting in it. They have already had one successful batch fledge but today I discovered a nestling on the floor. I waited to see if the parents would come to it but after around 10-15minutes I quickly went out there...

    Blue Tits Territorial Fight

These two blue tits landed no more than 5 feet from me in January, fighting over territory, I imagine. They were quite oblivious to my presence, the fight lasted about 2 minutes & was absolutely vicious!
