Nearing the end of my home-in-July shots, then I'll get back to the USA trip in August. Today's (and tomorrow's if I get on line from Dubrovnik) rooks and fieldfare were from a walk through the cemetery between campus and home, checking whether the nutcrackers were still there. They were, but I...

Sorry I haven't browsed much today. Houseguests. I'll browse tomorrow while they're off on an excursion. By way of apologies, I'll interupt the old holiday photos to share some from yesterday that I was really happy with. And it's kind of a Saturday Fun story. 1) I've been walking through the...

    Away with you

Some of you were observant enough to see that the Rook wasn't too pleased to have the heron patrolling 'his' field. It was almost as if he had youngsters in there, but I couldn't see any. Eventually the heron took flight and the Rook escorted him right off into the distance! Still in Landscape...

I took the shortcut through the cemetery on my way home. No nutcrackers there yet, and they may never come as the other corvids have already finished off most of the pine cones. Anyway ... this Rook caught my attention for a bit, walking about with his beak open. He did have the ability to shut...

This Rook was one of the many corvids seen at the various services stations on the M6. My last stop before turning off into the Yorkshire Dales for the night.

    Rook's picnic

This is one of two rooks I saw picnicking on worms on a lawn between a shopping center and a residential area on the outskirts of town today. If I recall correctly, there are more rooks now than there used to be, although there were some as long as I've lived here. It was something people...
