  3. Cardinal Lory

    Cardinal Lory

I found another picture I took of a limited range species that might be worth adding to the Birdforum database.
  4. Ultramarine Kingfisher (Todiramphus leucopygius)

    Ultramarine Kingfisher (Todiramphus leucopygius)

This is an Ultramarine Kingfisher, probably female, near "Hell's Point" (site of several WW2 battles) near the city of Honiara on Guadalcanal. It's not a great quality photograph but I don't believe one has been posted on Birdforum yet, so I thought I'd post it.
  5. Buff-headed Coucal

    Buff-headed Coucal

This is a picture of a Buff-headed Coucal I took on Guadalcanal Island in the Solomon Islands on 31 March 2012. I’m just now getting around to sorting through old photographs.

A group of school children who were determined to make sure I didn't get lost, pointed...
  8. Melanesian Kingfisher

    Melanesian Kingfisher

Appears to be a new species for the gallery. These kingfishers were fairly common in a variety of wooded habitats. We often saw them perching on power lines as seen here. Note blue wings and tail which help separate this species from similar but smaller Sacred Kingfisher. I believe this is a...
