Ducks have never been high on my “need to see list” therefore, I generally tend to only enthuse if they are invariably males and of an attractive persuasion.
That said, on 25th Sep. (during the yank onslaught) I noted a female Ruddy Duck hugging an island bank at Connaught Waters, N.East London (shot hereby supplied).
What I didn’t know, was how rare they’ve become since the cull started, I understand that there was only a guesstimated 10-15 birds left in the UK in 2022.
I texted another local birder who was already on his way, however although looked for it was not relocated, as it wasn’t by me on subsequent visits.
Would anyone know if any RD’s were reported during this period?
Cheers
