Hi, I have a bird box with camera and I was getting a lot of visits by blue tits. Hoping a. Pair would start building a nest. Now there has been no activity for a few days. Why have they gone and abandoned my box? I did see a magpie in the garden.

Hi Trevor and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators. I'm sorry, it's rather difficult to say what may be the cause. Perhaps the previous activity was overnight winter roosting and your birds aren't quite ready to set up home yet.

Maybe others have ideas and perhaps you'd like to post your question in the Garden Birds, Bird Feeding & Nestboxes

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I look forward to hearing your news.

Welcome to Birdforum. I hope you enjoy your visits.

I expect the birds were roosting. They may return to nest in a short time.

Magpies in the garden wouldn’t affect them.
