Austrian species nesting in boxes .. (1 Viewer)

Hi

I'm trying to make a world list of bird species which have nested in boxes , or using artificial sites for birds. I've only just done this so not many on the list yet

We put a lot of nesting boxes out for birds in the UK, but is this the same in Austria, and what species have used them? Do any of the more alpine species use boxes?

I've just set up a blog at http:///birdnestingboxes.blogspot.com/ or email me at http://[email protected]/

Thanks for any information

David

I've seen Snow Finch nesting in boxes at a few sites in Austria.

wow :eek!: snow finch in a nest box! now that is unexpected. I have only ever seen them nesting above 1300m in the quiet, alpine rocky grasslands. Where were the nestboxes? (feel free to pm me directly if you would prefer)

happy birding,
Dale

Sorry Dale I had forgotten I'd posted this. We saw Snow Finch taking food into boxes at Edelweißspitze and Fuscher Lake on the High Alpine Road.
