You might be better writing the RAW files to the SD card as the Canon 1D mk3 writes faster to that than the CF card!!

Roumours are Canon 45D will come with SD card so I expect Nikon will not let Cannon outsmart them.

So what if it does have an SD? CF's are better for most people, faster and more reliable.

I do not see that much differences between D200 and D300 so I am waiting for the next model.

You obviously haven't looked very hard then.

Vapourware. Internet rumours are worse than useless for predicting what will really happen.

Nobody knows what the next Canon (or Nikon) will be like, but the vast majority of Canon xxD users do not want SD cards in the next model, of that I'm positive, because we're already heavily invested in CF cards.

Frankly, the D300 is the obvious upgrade from the D200, and the IQ (and other) improvements available from the D300 compared to the D200 are there for all to see.

If the only thing stopping you is this strange worry about CF card incompatibility with your laptop buy a card reader that plugs into your PCMCIA slot like this or a USB card reader like this (which is pretty much what I use with my laptop).

Thanks, I ordered PCMCIA adapter from amazon but it will not work with my Vista. I still think I shall wait. Atleast Cnnon D1 do have SD-card. Nikon did a good job with the D3 they will not let Cannon outsmart them on the SD-card isue for long. I really do not understand why Nikon overlook SD-card? They will wake up soon. I have no problem connecting my D200 direct to my laptop usb port. But I am willing to wait a year or two for the new model D300 with modern cards. I live not very far from the Nikon factory that make the D300. I could not buy CF-card from the city. Only a few camera shops in Bangkok stock CF-cards. You can get SD-cards from any street corner at any toun in the country. I suggest Nikon sent the engineer who deigned the D3/D300 to drive a Honda Fit with 5 liters of gas from the factory to buy a CF-card. If he could not come back with the card with 5 liters of gas fire him!

I think Canon put in both cards because it just for transition camera. They will finally will be only SD card. I shall not buy any thing with Memorystick or CF card. I still remember my home movie days about 8mm and Super 8 films. I now have 8mm and super8 film but could not get projector that will show them. Hate to have D3 but no where to buy CF cards.

Buy the current D300, it can take pictures at 8fps with the optional battery and who needs video.....
