Anyone taking part in this survey taking part now? I like doing it when I’m Birding (when’s there’s not much birds around) or in the garden. Big Butterfly Count

Did it Friday. Nice range of species and good numbers but nothing unusual and a few things that the app didn’t have on the options.

If you did have something unusual you wouldn't be able to record it as there's only a relatively small selection of species shown. Even the common skippers aren't there as many people would misidentify them.

I've done four counts so far- 2 in the garden on separate days & another 2 while out. Had 10 species in the garden mid-week.

Yeah. I’ve had Essex and small at my site this year but didn’t make any attempt at distinguishing them for the count as neither were on there

I'm hoping the winds die down a little this week - very disruptive for garden numbers.

4 Large White
3 Peacock
3 Red Admiral
2 Gatekeeper

The buddleia helped!
