Hello all,

a friend of mine is looking for some good binoculars and found something on the net. I'm not into brands and all that stuff so i wonder if you people can help me.

It's a Bresser Travel 20x50 for 64 euro.

Is Bresser a good brand? Hows the deal when it comes to the price?

yeah i was kinda surprised at that either, it should be fun though to go birdwatching in England, while remaining on the dutch coast

But on a more serious note: is this trustful?

Hello Erik,

Forget about a 20 power binocular. These are very specialised instruments, which will never come cheap if you want good optical quality.
Get yourself a 7, 8 or 10x binocular instead. With the Bynolyt brand, readily available in the Netherlands, you really can't go wrong I think. If you want even more quality you might consider Nikon. The 8x36 Sporter is THE best buy (see Otto McDiesels report in the Nikon section) and available for 199 Euro on Marktplaats. You'll also find enthousiastic reports here on the Nikon 10x35 EII. Well, you can buy this porro binocular at Abro Verrekijkers for 295 Euro, which is a good price. They have several of them in stock so you can pick the best one, and even might talk them into an even lower price.

There is no way that 20x50 will be of any use, unless you use it on a tripod, and even then, it will probably be of poor quality.
Follow Renze's advice! A 64 Euro Bresser is probably of very poor quality.
