I looked up in the Key to confirm the origin of the eponym on Turdus merula cabrerae and found this:

● Dr Ángel Cabrera y Latorre (1879-1960) Spanish zoologist, palaeontologist, emigrated to Argentina 1925 (syn. Periparus ater vieirae).
● Dr Anatael Cabrera y Diaz (1866-1943) Spanish physician resident in the Canary Is., naturalist (subsp. Turdus merula).

Of course the second one is the person after whom the Blackbird is named.

But I was puzzled about the first one. What is the relationship between this name and Periparus ater vieirae? This subspecies of Coal Tit was named after Adriano Xavier Lopes Vieira, I can't figure out the relation to anyone named Cabrera...

These three names are nowadays regarded as synonymous :
  • Parus vieirae Nicholson 1906 (Mem. Proc. Manchester Lit. Philos. Soc., 50 (13): 16 (BHL); type locality: Coimbra, Portugal; no explicit dedication, but obviously named after the collector "Dr. L. Vieira").
  • Parus ater lusitanicus Reichenow 1916 (Ornithol. Monatsber., 24: 154 (BHL); type locality: the region of (der Gegend von) Oporto = Porto, Portugal).
  • Parus ater cabrerae Witherby 1928 (Ibis, ser. 12, 4: 433 (Google Books snippet); type locality: Cercedilla, Sierra de Guadarrama, Spain; dedicated by the author to "Sr. Don Angel Cabrera, the well-known Spanish Zoologist, who has shown us many kindnesses in Spain").
cabrerae was originally presented as a form intermediate between vieirae and nominate ater.
