Cambridgeshire Birding (5 Viewers)

Grafham Water 24 July. Mediterranean Gull juv on the dam at 0630. Different bird to yesterday, this one has a red ring. Number should be readable later from photos. 3 Common Sands and 5+ Yellow-legged Gulls. Not forgetting the Mandarin still on the dam!

Med Gull colour ring P1J1 or something close to this. https://www.flickr.com/photos/140874789@N04/27893952694/in/album-72157664662036243/lightbox/

Ring number appears to be PTJ1 when examined forensically, see screenshot. Presumably an eastern European number ? Poland? https://www.flickr.com/photos/140874789@N04/28520001865/in/album-72157664662036243/ To be continued...

Couple of record shots attached (cropped, iPhone held to Scope & through reeds, hence the quality). The first I've seen at the reservoir for a few years...

Grafham Water 23 Aug. Great White Egret at west end last seen in Littleless bay at 1900 but mobile, a very rare bird at Grafham so glad for the immediate news from MH as I was just arriving at the dam.
Black Tern juv off sailing club. Curlew Sand still present in the lagoons but still to catch up with this one...

Grafham Water 24 Aug evening. Marsh Harrier over lagoons , 1 Ruff, 4 Green Sands and 2 Snipe. (missed the Curlew Sand again!), 1 Dunlin and Redshank on the dam and at least 35 Yellow Wagtails out numbering Pied. Well worth checking them all this time of year....

Note: Stanwick 'Azorean type' Gull is back, so expect it to visit Grafham (again?)
