Took this yesterday. The fly was sharing a poppy flower with a Marmalade Fly. The markings seem different and darker from those of the Marmalade Fly, and the body seems stouter. I can't spot it in our books - nothing unusual there.

It is a Marmalade Fly, E. balteatus. It's not uncommon to see dark specimens. Colour is apparently related to temperature during pupation.
