I have a pair of Carl Zeiss Jena TELONAR 12 x 40 binoculars with case. Serial No. 1142326. Does anyone have an idea of the date these were produced. The lens are perfect.

I have a pair of Carl Zeiss Jena 10 x 40B mc Notarem binoculars. They were bought in 1984 from Comet (I still have the receipt) and had a lifetime warranty. The focusing mechanism failed in the late 80s and was repaired under warranty by Carl Zeiss. I'd like to have them refurbished as the black vinyl body 'skin' has lifted in a few places and the rubber eye cups are perished. The optics seem to be fine. In these days of 'repair rather than discard', it seems a pity if they can't be refurbed.

Hi,

The serial number put this binocular as 1922 year of manufacture.
