Hi Ken,
Your caterpillar is that of The White Ermine or just possibly Buff Ermine. They are very similar. I have some two dozen White Ermine larvae just a few inches away from my computer along with some three dozen pupae. A female decided to lay her eggs on the egg trays in my moth trap and I just can't resist breeding them through to the adult stage.
