Please settle a minor disagreement! A friend sent this photo from a trip to Norfolk. We're trying to decide what the blurry bird in the front of the shot is. I'm guessing we'll never know as it's so blurry, but I'd like to see what sort of things you guys would go for!

Not too sure if there has been a hen harrier around Cley. No mention of one on Monday. One at Titchwell, early mornings only, apparently.

Short-eared owl for me.

Dihedral seems too strong for harrier and color too uniform for a gull. That and the big sausage-shaped body make me lean toward owl.

Pyrtle might correct me but have not heard of a SE Owl in the area for some time. Would be a bit much of a coincidence if one was photographed by accident without the photographer knowing. Same for Hen Harrier, I think one in the last month. So that would leave it as a gull.
