digiscoping with an Acuter 70mm digital imaging scope (1 Viewer)

Hi has anyone got,.
used or has a (ACUTER 70MM DIGITAL IMAGING SPOTTING SCOPE) Ive seen one on ebay at 180 pounds.
Are they any good if you believe the blurb they are.
A sigma 500mm lens for my canon camera is 500 pounds plus i cant afford this.
I really want to get close up pictures of birds as economical as possible.
Any suggestions please

I've not come across this scope, but from a google search I've had a look at one.

My biggest concern would be the size of the eyepiece, I'd be a little concerned that unless the light is perfect, you would struggle to get enough light through.

I've seen second hand sigma 500mm's go on ebay for a few hundred pounds - normally when I dont have spare cash :(

acuter

Hi It is quoted as 7x and 14x Magnification and 3 million pixels. There are a lot of 20x mag digital cameras out at the moment. I think these may be a better buy - lighter more versitile and a lot more pixels, plus you can go to any camera shop and try one out before you buy

Regards

Mike

Like all the imaging scopes, by the time they come out they are already a few years out of date. If they had been around when digiscoping took off then it may have been a different story but they aren't the best option to spend your hard earned cash on.

I use a 600mm Skywatcher telescope mounted as a prime lens on my Canon dslr, around £250. See my gallery. To get that sort of quality with a spotting scope you are looking at around £1000+

Hi All don't know the product personally but have looked at it, the processor is at the same level as any high tech cctv ptz camera, suspect that this hasn,t the same technology advances as these cameras however it should take awesome video, video compression is alot different than photograghy if you wanted 10m pixel your storage capacity on a normal pc would be wipe out in minutes, its all to do with compression and not mega pixel, cctv ptz would cost approx 5 to 6 times as much plus software and licences
