EagleEye OpticZoom lens suitability (1 Viewer)

Well-known member
I have been digiscoping for a couple of years now using a Coolpix 995 and 4500 with a Swarovski 80 HD and getting some really good results, however I would like to try birds in flight. Is anyone using the EagleEye OpticZoom 5x lens for this purpose?
Quality of the lens, vignetting and ease of focusing- in manual and -autofocus, are areas that seem very vague when reading the manufacturer's info.
If anyone is using this lens could you please let me know what you think of it before I decide whether to buy one or not - they aren't exactly cheap are they!!
Look forward to hearing from you,
john-henry

John-Henry, recall there are some Birdforum members who have used this lens; some even used it stacked with an Olympus B300 1.7x convertor (current version TCON 1.7) and still claimed good results.

While awaiting their responses might be interested in these links. There's a BIG page here comparing teleconvertors in which the conclusion is that the EagleEye performs very well
www.cs.mtu.edu/~shene/DigiCam/ in Coolpix 995 guide.

Some practical advice on using it is provided here :

third drop down menu. Also example pictures present on site........
