For history and details on the original design SLC 7x42 and 10x42 SLC,

They were introduced in 1992, and continued along with the original EL 8.5x42 and 10x42 that were introduced in 1999.
The original x42 SLC's were discontinued in 2010, when replaced with the all new design SLC 8x42 and 10x42
(and the EL SV in 8.5x42 and 10x42 were also introduced in 2010).
