Enter the first three birds you expect to see in the new year.

Edit your post to say what you actually saw.

My three are:
1: Starling
2: Wood Pigeon
3: Red Kite

House Finch
House Sparrow
Northern Cardinal

* Actually saw:
1. Northern Cardinal
2. House Finch
3. Dark-eyed Junco

** Two out of three, not bad!

I've actually got the day off this year instead of working so will be out at first light. First three I reckon will be...

1: Jackdaw
2: Herring Gull
3: Blue Tit

All from living room window.

If things go to plan I will be at Rutland Water as it gets light and so the first three actually seen might be

Mute Swan
Goosander
Black-headed Gull

as they will stand out in the gloom.

Steve

Tawny Owl, Robin, Blackbird, though those may well all be heard records. I shall be out at least two hours before it gets light.

Robin and Blackbird still good bets for the first seen birds with Carrion Crow also likely.

Mine would be

Blue Tit
Coal Ti....
... but the third is a bit more tricky to pick. It might depend what time I wake up, but the main contenders would be Starling, Blackbird, Crow, Wood Pigeon.

California Quail
Western Scrub-jay
House Finch

That is, unless there's a Cooper's Hawk about in which case I won't see anything at all. . ..
