Can anyone help with the ID of this, please? It was growing in fair profusion along a riverside path at the foot of a heavily wooded bank.

I would guess Nipplewort.

With yellow composites like this, it is very helpful to necessary to photograph more of the plant, as well as the flowers from the side or below.
 
Yes, nipplewort. Note distinctive nippley fruiting head towards bottom right. Common on wayside trashy places.
 
Thanks to you both for your replies. (y) With regard to Xenospiza's advice, I did make a point of including some of the leaves rather than just the flowerhead. But I'll take your advice on board for any future puzzlers. Very useful to know. Thanks again.
