Hi,
I am pretty sure this is a Fulvous Whistling-Duck, which I took on May 31, 2018 in Cuenca, Ecuador. To be specific, I took it in the complex of Pumapungo (see here), an archeological ruin.
Unfortunately, this place stocks caged birds (I did not even take pictures of those). This and a few other Fulvous Whistling-Ducks were free. But the real question is: are they normally expected in Cuenca, or are these also stocked birds?
I checked eBird quickly, I see that there were reports of the same species in the area, but I do not know if they are confirmed or not.
Thanks in advance,
Howard
