set off early doors today to get up to leighton, dark, wet & dismal morning but the birds were no disappointment , the glossy ibis is still there but can be difficult to see, my friend and i were lucky, along with two other birders had very good views in the field opposite the turn off for the allen hide. plenty of various duck from shelduck, widgeon, gadwall etc...up to 12 avocet, a pair of spotted redshank , two twite, sparrowhawk, nuthatch, little egret in good numbers,1 snipe, tree creeper, & 1 redwing. sadly didn't see the red headed smew nor any marsh harrier, think the rain rain kept them down, all in all a good day out! :t:
