Hi everyone and I wish a very happy, healthy and peaceful New Year to you all. I hope you are all keeping warm and safe in this mini ice age.

I've been away from the Board for a few months, mainly due to lack of motivation for a while, a few health problems and my computer completely packing up. I've just got a re-conditioned laptop so I hope it doesn't let me down.

I've had a quick look at recent posts but there's just too many to catch up on. I have noticed, however, that one or too well loved members are missing. Hope their absence is only temporary.

The cold weather has brought lots of birds to the garden, including many more Blackbirds than usual and two Mistle Thrushes who come to see whats on offer on the patio and to devour the apples that I've spiked onto tree branches. Conspicuous by their absence are LT Tits, after last winter's large numbers I have yet to see one in the garden.

I am spending a fortune on bird food. Apart from the usual nuts and seeds I buy value sausage rolls and mince pies for the pastry, scones, sultanas, apples and if I see bilberries reduced I buy them too. I'm not buying meal worms at present as I've bred a good supply myself.

Great to see you back, Bea! How lovely to have two Mistle Thrush visitors! I have had Blackcaps on my spiked apples and pears, that is when the Robins and Blackbirds aren't about!

I wish you a Happy, Healthy and Peaceful New Year and the return of the LTT's to your garden!

Great to see you here once more Bea {hugs}

Sorry to hear that you have not been too well. and it does not help that your PC is not working all that well.

Thank you for sharing your 'renewed' birding experiences with us once more.

Regards
Kathy

Hi Bea.
It's good to have you back with us. I reciprocate your New Year sentiments. I do hope you are now well, and that you continue along those lines throughout the year.

Baz.

Hi Bea...yes, good to have an old friend back again! I understand your lack of motivation problem...have it here occasionally too!

Nice selection to have in the garden and mine are proving to be expensive too! Even one LTT would go down a treat here. They are very uncommon visitors to my garden but they are around the area.

Hiya Bea!:hi:

You've been missed, my Dear! :flowers: But ... As you well know ... there's always that comfy sofa waiting here and there's always room on it for a good friend. :t:

Nice variety of hungry garden guests you have and I well understand the high cost of providing food for them. Good for you (I suppose from a cost-wise perspective) to raising your own mealworms! We *try* to have at least 6 trays of them going at a time (kitty litter trays used for their accomidations) but because of the high demand here for Kramer and his buddies we normally need to buy another 1000 or so at least once a month.

Motvation? Sorry I don't understand that term. Lost mine looooong ago. :'D

Lydia

Thank you all for your kind words of welcome (and hugs ladies!), its good to be back.

The only birding I'm doing at present is through the windows. While I don't mind driving in the arctic conditions we are having in these parts I'm really scared of slipping on the ice. Apart from the possiblity of breaking a bone I would feel such an idiot!
