Hi,
I am an absolute newbie to bird watching so please excuse my ignorance.
I was watching these birds today while at the coast. Coldingham Bay in Borders region in Scotland. I couldn't get very clear pictures of them but for all the details that I CAN get, they seem to me to be swallows. They seemed to be nesting in the rocks. There was a small woodland and fresh water nearby. However, when I put the details that I knew into a bird identification site, it didn't seem to recognise swallows as being at the coast.
Anyway....they were small but bigger than a robin. Their feathers down the back looked to be dark blue/almost black. They had a white/cream front with an orange/brown stripe under its head and its head was black (I think) Its tail was forked/split, just like a swallows.
There was quite a few of them, maybe about 6, nearby.
If I can figure out how to post photos. I could post the best of what I have.
If anyone can help a newbie, I would be grateful
