Another five species of Owl added on my Sri Lankan trip to take me to 75 species with Serendip Scops Owl, Sri Lankan Bay Owl, Chestnut-backed Owlet (four seen), Indian Scops Owl (two seen) & Jungle Owlet.

Also two Brown Fish Owls (pleased to see one of my pics from Turkey used in the Merlin Bird pack), Brown Wood Owl & Brown Boobook.

Now at 95. I picked up a Tawny Fish-owl in Bhutan last month.

As a UK-only birder I've got less to aim for, and have seen five of them : Barn, Little, Tawny, Short-eared, Long-eared. Never all in the same day, though!

My recent trip added three species with Lesser Horned Owl (Chile), Peruvian Pygmy Owl (Ecuador) & Northern Pygmy Owl (California) so a minor uptick to 78 species.

Stalling a bit at 87, this year I only added Pharaoh Eagle-Owl and Maghreb Owl.
I should really go to Indonesia or C-America soon to add another 15-20
I hope to add 5 in July and there is potential for 4 more in November.

I know a guide who specializes in owls here in Costa Rica. I've seen him get like 7 species in one day.
