Had a Gypo goose at Lumley this evening - it later flew back to Houghton Gate pool, where i could just see it at 22:00.
Not sure if Flats & HoGate birds are one & the same ?

No luck with the Rosefinch ?

Tried for rosefinch yesterday morning with out luck. So many large gardens in area with so much potential. I'm up for dawn chorus in Colliery Wood in morning so might have a walk round again early on when it's quiet- you never know. Thanks for the info. The egyptian goose is not at the Flats every day and the geese don't roost at the Flats but depart to and arrive from the SW. Got to be the same bird.

Boldon Colliery Wood early this morning was generally quieter than expected but the usual warblers were had including singing lesser whitethroat and excellent views of singing grasshopper warbler. The highlight of the morning being a wood sandpiper on the water by the River Don.

Wood sandpiper flew onto pools by Boldon Colliery Wood mid-afternoon. These pools must get a few good birds but being so close to the path suffers from a lot of disturbance. Two pairs of lapwing in field with at least one brood. Duck mallard on Don here with 4 ducklings.

Jay in Boldon Colliery Wood yesterday- first for a couple of month. It would be great if they were breeding. Small heath butterfly in same area my first for here.

west pastures this morning.
lots of partridge and pheasant chicks about also afew lapwing chicks.
partridge just hatched this morning, hard luck mr magpie you missed these|:D|
lots of smaller coppers and a few speckled woods.
