Up Ont’ Moors
I have attached below a Trip Report to South Africa in a PDF document. It follows the format of all my various trip reports over the years and whilst not as detailed as some of the reports on here, it at least gives a species list and details the more specific areas that I birded. For this trip my wife and I travelled with our friends who are not birders. Neither is my wife, so it wasn't a birding trip per se. I did what I could, when I could, the odd walk before breakfast and other walks during the day.
After spending three nights in Cape Town, we then travelled to Stellenbosch in the wine country before moving on to Oudtshoorn and thereafter driving parts of the Garden Route. After Oudtshoorn we visited Wilderness, then Plettenberg Bay before spending a final three nights at Pumba Private Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape.
I only really scratched the surface. I saw 127 species of which 80 were lifers. The scenery was superb, the habitats diverse and the people we met along the way were lovely. You've got to remember that you are in Africa, be careful at certain times (probably mainly in the cities) but we experienced no problems at all.
I can add a few bird photos (and some scenic ones) in a few following posts.
