Hello - newbie here. Can anyone tell me how to date these? I think the serial is 1093708 which was found by the Deltrintum and 8x30 stamp. Thank you in advance. Jeannette

Hi Geniebeanie65,

Welcome to BF!
There are lots of serious binocular students here, so you'll get a definitive answer shortly.
Meanwhile, your serial number indicates a very early glass, Zeiss Jena serial numbers got up to about 7,000,000, continued through two world wars.
The Deltrintem was launched in the 1920s, afaik and I suspect your glass dates from that time.

Hi Jeannette,

For some history see: Legendary binoculars - Carl Zeiss Jena Deltrintem 8x30 - Carl Zeiss Jena Deltrintem 8x30 - 1920-1990

And two early specimens that you can compare to yours, can be seen on Johann Leichtfried's site Fernglasmuseum (Binocular Museum):

#1,041,851 at: Zeiss Deltrintem 8x30 (3)

#1,188,958 at: Zeiss Deltrintem 8x30 (2)

(To translate the text into English using Google Translate: open the GT application, copy and paste the link into the left panel,
and then click on the highlighted area in the right panel).

Johann's site has a vast selection binoculars, and is particularly strong on older Zeiss models,
see at: Fernglasmuseum - Hersteller alphabetisch

I've attached a copy of a well known listing of Zeiss binoculars up until 1972, compiled by Kind, Hudemann et al.
