Manfrotto Neotec Tripod (1 Viewer)

Manfrotto have introduced a new tripod, the Neotec 458B. It has legs with no clips or screws to tighten when the legs are extended.

The legs are pulled out to the length required and lock automatically in the chosen position, just like the auto monopod 334B. The greater the weight on the tripod the more effective the leg lock.

To close the legs a button is pressed, and they retract automatically to the closed position.

Sounds like a giant leap forward to me. Needless to say, it is quite expensive at around £240.

As a professional tripod user, I think I may have to get one!

If I do decide to buy, I will, however, be purchasing from the States, now that we have a favourable exchange rate.

$240 = £130.

I have been in contact with Manfrotto with a view to review this item, and hopefully this week i will receive the Neotec 458B and the new 701 RC2 video head, so i can try and carry out a review of both from a Digiscoping perspective? Give me a few weeks while i try this combination out and i will report back

Has anybody had any experience of trying these two together? I know its early yet, but I'm interested to see opinions on how it performs, the head seems to be winner in most peoples eyes, but what of the 458B? If it's a success it would appear to be a winning combination - if a little pricey!
