Maven B.2 9x45 and 11x45 - Odd binocular magnifications? (1 Viewer)

Great review Canip! I agree with you! I had some 9X45s in 2016/2017. I thought they were fantastic binoculars. Built extremely well. Great optics and smooth focus. The ONLY issue I had with them was they were a little heavy and I bought an SV 8.5X42 after and used them more SO I sold the Mavens. I've really had sellers regret ever since. So the picture below is showing from left to right...Maven B.2 9X45, Zeiss HT 10X42, and SV 8.5X42.

In response to a question posed by Canip in the OP, yes I do feel that the 9x45 Maven is an excellent bridge between 8 and 10x glass. I know that depth of field is supposed to decrease as power increases. I understand the arguments for why this is the case. However much I read and agree with these proclamations, my eyes keep telling my brain a different story. According the the input my brain gets from my eyes, length matters at least as much as magnification. Also a flat field seems to help. So does a wide fov. My Maven 9x45 has the best depth of field of any binocular I own, that includes a 1968 version of the Swift Audubon 8.5x44 and a couple of 7x50 porro binoculars. It also has a wider fov than the specs give it credit for. They say 367", while all three I have measured register 405'. Yes they are long and somewhat heavy in comparison to their mostly Schmidt-Pechan contemporaries, but the B2 along with an 8x30 M 3 will do me perfectly for whatever time I have left. I have lots of other binoculars but these two matter most.
