Mealy Redpoll (1 Viewer)

We had a pair of Redpolls on our Niger seed feeder this morning. We had a great view of them and think they were a pair of mealy redpolls due to the distinctive light bars on the wings. Typically as soon as I tried to put the decent lens on the camera they flew off!
Is this a likely ID? Our bird book only has common redpolls down the east of the UK.....
Thanks!
Andrew

Hi Andrew I think mealy/common redpoll are becoming more widespread or at least more birders are learning to id them.
No reason why you shouldnt get them in your neck of the woods, you will how ever have to determine their identification on more than just the colour of the wing bars.
Good luck
Geoff
