Name a Bird You've Seen 2 (19 Viewers)

Not sure, maybe you don't need to if SA has you as a named user? Though I've no real idea how it works.

There was an option in 'googlesheets' to set the sheets 'accessible for anyone on the internet' or similar, so unless this has changed in their policy, then yes, maybe the wrong tickbox was ticked by SA.

Oh blimey, do I even have a Google password? Is it linked to anything else?

I was able to access the list before without any issues, so I think something has definitely changed if it isn't just affecting me.

This is really odd. I haven't changed any settings, and it's set up for access to "anyone with the link" which should mean anyone clicking a link from this page should get in, even if they don't have a Google account.

Here's a slightly different link that I've just generated from Google - try this and see if it works better:

I'm still being asked for my password. I didn't want to put any passwords I can think of in, because I don't know what I'm signing up for other than access to the document. I'm just very wary of stuff like that because passwords are very easily stolen online - though I'm not accusing you of any deviousness!

Don't worry, it's fine. I'm astonished I've been able to contribute several species this late in proceedings, considering my global list is quite modest, so I've had a fair go, methinks.

I just clicked on the new link & I'm not being asked for a password, just opens no problem.

I think it's google having changed - I earlier tried the original spreadsheet, and that, along with the latest one (so all 3) want me to verify I am who I am.

I'm guessing Dave is currently signed into google on the device he is currently on? I think I'm not as my laptop did an update not too long ago.

The world we live in??

I've got no idea what I'm signed into, I just found out yesterday I had 99 tabs open!

If it wants you to be signed into Google, I'd suggest doing that via a well-know site you trust rather than a spreadsheet hosted on my Google drive. Youtube is probably the best option for most people, or Google itself if you have a gmail account. If the spreadsheet doesn't open after logging in, you could try ctrl-f5 to force it to clear its cache.

Otherwise, it's probably a bug that Google didn't introduce deliberately. They want people to be able to use these things, as they want to encourage non-users of Google to see what they offer. So they'll probably fix it at some point. I won't know when that happens, because it's my spreadsheet so my access is unrestricted.

It's the same on this one, which was set up by someone else -

I tried googling the question briefly, with no success.

I was able to access the 2021 spreadsheet, the only one I found my way to LOL

Thought I had a lot at 57!!! And I closed quite a lot the other day as my browser was beginning to struggle LOL
