Here in Australia, one shop has the Sport model arriving November/December. No date yet on the Contemporary model.Anyone know when or if these are available yet?

A few photographs here https://www.flickr.com/photos/guccidpo/with/15698579551/ and they look quite good.
If the weight/price of the 600/4 IS MkI is no problem for you Nick I would take that in a heartbeat over any third party zoom lens - no comparison IMHO.But I am interested in adding a better quality (ie heavier) lens for hide use etc. My thoughts are to try the new Sigma Sports 150-600, or else buy a second-hand Canon 600mm f4 IS Mk1.

I was a little hesitant to say that as I quite fancy a Canon 200-400/560 8-P but I take your point as I am a big prime fan although zooms are getting a bit better these days.Ditto, and I would take third party out and just leave zoom lens.
They look fairly good - if it turns out the that the lens performs well with a 1.4x tc then that will be a real bonus for anyone that is reach limited (1344mm FOV on the 7D2).A couple of quick shots at 840mm f9 (open wide)
AF is more than usable for static subjects. Will try it on moving ones asap.

They are looking good :t: a step up from the Tamron I would say, especially the bokeh which looks a lot nicer to me. It also looks as if the it takes the tc very well with some nice fine detail. Finally some sunlight. A few shots with the Sigma (with and without the teleconverter).
