You could be right Henry’s is also showing Zeiss 8x42 HT special order no return Henrys.com : ZEISS 8X42 VICTORY HT BINOCULARSThat must be an old add that has not been removed from their site, there are a few like that out there.
Would you want to sell any of those eye cups off of those SE's?All hail the Nikon SE, still running strong here.
As it would also be to know how much time some folks spend on asking questions and posting about binoculars on different fora vs using them in the field....It would be interesting to know how much time some folks here spend on Ebay, or otherwise searching for binoculars, versus actually using them, wouldn't it...
Can you tell us where you sent them in and for what service?I recently sent my 8x32SEs in for service and they came back better than ever. Definitely serviced with tender loving care. I was stoked! These are as good as anything I own (saying a lot), they go out with me in dry weather all the time. The shorter centerline through the bins leads to less axial shake too.
I wonder how much SE eye cups would fetch.
Likely more than one would expect.
I would bet you could at least $100 a pair. Maybe more!
At the other end of the spectrum a Nikon Eii 8x30 sold for £45 a few days ago. The seller had no idea of it's worth. One of these just went for $1225.00, unbelievable.
Nikon SE 8x32, 550 Series, LNIB with TWO Pairs of Extra Original Eyecups | eBay
The ones included here are from that last production run and are in new condition. They are misshapen but intact with no cracks or splits, and they still perform as intended. I do not fold them for use with eyeglasses, so another user's experience might vary.www.ebay.com
I suppose we'll find out: Nikon SE Binocular Eyecups: New, Unused, and Extremely Rare | eBay
The SE were on the market a long, long time before Nikon began producing the EDG. Your theory doesn't work.Nikon's choice to go with rubber eyecups on that long eye relief design was not their greatest idea - one wonders if (along with the narrow field of view) it was a deliberate decision to make them less competitive with the EDG.
Yes, it seems like yesterday. I bought some in ~2008 and then, later, Nikon was giving them away free. I think I have two or three sets, plus some for the E2, and a few for the WF series Fieldscope eyepieces. Since I wear glasses, I don't have much concern for my own use, but I like having back-ups. But maybe I should cash in!Some of us saw the end of Nikon rubber eyecups coming at us way back in 2008. We raided the warehouse and now we're sitting on something better than bitcoin!
Nikon SE eyecups--a lesson in pathetic Nikon customer support
This topic has come up a few times and I thought I would share my recent experience attempting to locate eyecups for my 8x32 SE. I began asking Internet retailers early this year about eyecups, and though many had them on their sites, none of them had them in stock. In February I ordered some...www.birdforum.net
