I was sure I could easily ID this myself but am stumped. Were walking away from me on edge of field so no front views. Maybe 3 juveniles where one is larger than other two or maybe mother and two juveniles. I concentrated on the red cap on head and striped throat on larger bird but cannot get these to match anything in my reference sources.:egghead:

My best guess is partridge.

Many thanks for the ID. I had previously put 'red-legged partridge juvenile' into Google but didn't come up with any hits that resembled the piccie.
